Between the Wars that Shaped Israel with Emanuel Ben David

Join Emanuel Ben David for a series of three 90 minute presentations: Sundays, 5 PM; March 26, April 2 and April 16. Free.

Many of us know about the three major wars that Israel fought since its’ inception. The world watched in awe the convincing victory of the 1967 Six Day War, and many of us were deeply concerned and worried as to the fate of Israel during the Yom Kippur war in 1973. The two and half decades of Israel’s involvement in Lebanon was also something that captured many headlines. Most likely it was not the wars themselves, but rather the events that took place between the wars that were more influential in shaping the nature and character of Israel as it is today.

In this series of three presentations (each lasts about 90 minutes), Emanuel will describe the situation in Israel, right after the end of the War of Independence in 1949. He walks the audience through events and situations that rocked the people high and low, leading to the Six Day War. The results of that war had tremendous effects on Israel and the Jewish People. Emanuel will explain how the outcomes influenced and changed the People of Israel. Then he takes the audience through the period prior and after the Yom Kippur war, into the increase of terror attacks that eventually led to the First Lebanon War, concluding with the effects of the Lebanon War on the Israeli Society.

Emanuel Ben-David was Born in Haifa, Israel, some 60 years ago. He is a graduate of the prestigious Technion University in Haifa in Mechanical Engineering and also holds a MBA degree. He served in the Israel Defense Forces [IDF] for three decades (both mandatory service and in reserves) as a Naval Officer. He was involved in Defense and Technology for more than 40 years. Emanuel lived in Israel until 2014 and moved to the United States with his wife after retiring from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems (the company that developed and manufactures the Iron Dome, among many other defense systems). His passion now is to educate and inform people about Israel, both history and current affairs, believing that the added accurate and balanced information will help rebuttal the negative perspectives that currently exist against Israel.

“Emanuel BenDavid is an inspiring teacher. He not only knows what he’s talking about, but he delivers his talks with grace and humor.” Rabbi David
